In response to the many requests I've had for a source of ultrasound images you can use to help interpret structures and events during your mare's estrous cycle, here it is Ultrasound Images of the Estrous Cycle Volume 2: The Luteal Phase. The second in a series of e-books that I know will be an invaluable tool to support your equine reproduction activities now and in the future.

This 194 page e-book includes over 300 ultrasound images I've collected over the years from actual clinical cases. Images are clearly labeled and I've provided a caption that'll give you some background information about the case they were taken from. The images are presented in duplicate, one labeled and the other unlabeled so you can clearly recognize the important information.

The chapters are organized to give you a tour of potential luteal structures you may observe on your mare's ovaries from ovulation, through mid diestrus, to the beginning of the next estrus. I also address other ovarian structures and uterine findings (including uterine fluid and pregnancy) that occur during periods of progesterone dominance.

In the appendix you'll find some forms I use to record my findings during routine reproductive examinations in mares. I filled in some exam findings on of the forms to illustrate how I use it. You're welcome to print the blank form and make copies for you own use.
