Background
In 1988, I achieved my first major career goal when I received a DVM degree from the University of Missouri.  Shortly after graduating I accepted an associate position in private practice with Apple Valley Equine Hospital on the high desert in Southern California.  As an  associate in a busy equine practice, I gained valuable experience and continued to develop an interest in equine reproduction.  In 1990, I started work on my next major career goal, board certification in Theriogenology when I entered a  Theriogenology residency and graduate program at the University of Minnesota.  In 1993, I was awarded Diplomate status with the American College of Theriogenologists  ( What is Theriogenology or Theriogenologists?).  The ACT is the specialty college recognized and accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association to certify specialist in veterinary reproduction.  After completing a Ph.D. in 1994, I entered an Equine Internal Medicine residency at Oklahoma State University to compliment my reproduction training.  In 1996, I was awarded Diplomate status with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in the Equine Specialty.  Accepting an appointment as an Assistant Professor in 1997, I joined the faculty at Auburn University where I served as Director of the Equine Reproduction Center for 5 years.  While at Auburn University, I developed a highly productive equine clinical reproduction, teaching and research program.  In 2001, I was recruited to join Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky where I was instrumental in the design and development of their Equine Reproduction Center and Service.  In 2003, I joined World Wide Veterinary Consultants as a Consultant with areas of emphasis in Equine Reproduction and Medicine.  In 2005 I completed  the requirements for certification as a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine .

Clinical Experience.  My clinical experience has spanned 18+ years with time spent in private, academic and consulting practices.  I've worked with most breeds of horse, segments of the industry and in many regions of the United States.  I've enjoyed working with single horse owners as well as large farms and all types of breeding management programs, including natural service and artificial insemination (fresh, cooled, transported, frozen and low-dose).  My clinical activities have ranged across most areas of equine reproduction including routine breeding management; investigation, diagnosis and treatment of individual and herd fertility problems; utilization of advanced/assisted reproductive techniques; and development, design and implementation of breeding management programs to mention just a few.  My advanced training in Equine Internal Medicine has also been a tremendous compliment to my clinical reproduction activities.

Teaching Experience.  I also have 16+ years of teaching experience.  During that time I've developed curricula for and taught in lecture, laboratory and clinical settings.  I've taught as a lead and assistant instructor in organized university courses and continuing education programs.  I've taught thousands of undergraduate, professional and graduate students, practicing veterinarians and horse owners.  I've prepared numerous publications for students, veterinarians and horse owners.  Having a desire to pass along the knowledge I've gained from my experiences, I remain actively involved in teaching  today.

Research Experience.  I also have16+ years of research and manuscript publication experience.  I've acted as a PI, Co-PI and collaborator in numerous studies.  My research has involved stallion and mare, breeding management, reproductive efficiency, immunology, endocrinology, gamete physiology and advanced/assisted reproductive techniques.  I've published numerous research manuscripts and presented my work to peers at local, regional, national and international meetings.  Having a keen interest in improving equine reproductive efficiency, I remain involved with reproduction research and currently continues to publish and present my results.
